and the clouds above each of us are different

when i've never got to hold you
they ask

i've met you in the inky curls
breathless and honest
i've felt you in the flowing words
i've seen you in the flight of songbirds
autumn leaves, high blue skies
and i've let you see me
more naked than anyone else had
yet they tell me
